Ved Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh

Rishikesh is the place where the sacred river reaches first on its descent from the mountains. It is also a pilgrimage point and you can find many devout Hindus and sadhus. People here are friendly and quick to say hello or namaste that makes you feel never out of home.

The Ashram

Shri Ved Niketan Ashram or International Vishwaguru Yoga Vedanta Academy is located across the river on the eastern side of the River Ganges, you need to turn after the footbridge and it only takes five minutes’ walk to reach the place. The classes are held both in the morning and evening at the big centre hall and even one month courses are held several times a year that covers asana, pranayama, yoga and Hindu philosophy.

The Government is also planning to have its first yoga academy in the ashram. The ashram is also the place for spiritual realm of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and has a meditation centre and its location among the forests on the banks of Ganga further makes it ideal for meditation.

How to reach

Nearest Railway Station: The nearest railway station to the ashram is Rishikesh railway station junction which is some 16 Km from the Ved Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh. From the railway station head towards south direction and when you walk for 79 m take slight left towards Haridwar road and at 900 m turn left at Rajsthani onto Haridwar Road pass by the petrol pump (on the left in 1.0 Km) and at 2.0 Km continue onto Haridwar Rishikesh Badrinath Road/NH58 pass by colonhydrotherapyindia on the left in 1.6 Km. When you walk for 6.0 Km turn right onto Neelkanth Bridge Road pass by Glacier tour on the left in 450 m and at 950 m turn right onto Neelkanth Temple Road and at 2.2 Km take slight right and at 3.3 Km turn right destination will be on the left at 350 m.

Nearest Bus Depot: From the bus depot head north-east towards Swargashram and walk for 230 m and turn right at Cafe Coffee Day at Ram Jhula to stay on to Swarg Ashram and continue to walk for 270m and take sharp right and walk for 800 m continue with the walking and turn right and you will find the ashram after walking for 350 m.

Nearest Airport: The nearest airport is Jolly grant airport, yamnotri which is some 33 Km from the Ved Niketan Ashram at Rishikesh. From the airport take the southern direction towards Dehradun Rishikesh Road at 200 m take first left onto Dehradun Rishikesh Road pass by Amrapali Aadya Trading Investment Pvt Ltd (on the right in 15.5 km) and at 15.7 Km at Prabhat Transport Co continue onto Dehradun Road pass by Puri Hospital on the left in 750m and at 1.8 Km turn left at vna infrastructure onto Haridwar Road pass by petrol pump on the right at 1.8 Km and continue onto Haridwar Rishikesh Badrinath Road/NH 58 pass by colonhydrotherapyindia in the left in 1.6 Km and at 6.0 Km turn right onto Neelkanth Bridge Road, pass by Glacier tour on the left in 450 m and 950m turn right onto Neelkanth Temple Road and at 2.2 Km slight right and at 3.3 Km turn right and you will find the destination on the left at 350 m.

Best Time to Visit

Though you can visit Rishikesh any time of the year but the weather will be pleasant during the months of February-March and August-October. Hence, these months become the ideal months to visit Rishikesh.
